DUBAI, UAE - March 30, 2026 - SHIELDNXT, a global leader in advanced cybersecurity and threat intelligence (shieldnxt.com), today released two urgent threat analysis reports revealing a significant escalation in Iranian state-sponsored and affiliated cyber operations against the State of Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman. The reports, submitted to national authorities including the Amiri Diwan, the Ministry of Communications in Kuwait, and Oman's National CERT (OCERT), highlight an intensifying wave of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, advanced espionage, and targeted supply chain compromises aimed at critical infrastructure and government entities. Key findings include:
-
Kuwait Under Sustained Assault:
Pro-Iranian groups such as the 313 Team and NoName057(16) have conducted waves of DDoS attacks against more than 26 Kuwaiti government domains. Iranian APT groups, including MuddyWater and OilRig, are conducting espionage operations, while hacktivist networks are actively scanning and exploiting vulnerabilities in surveillance cameras across the country.
-
Oman's Energy Sector Directly Targeted:
The Iranian linked threat actor Nasir Security has been actively targeting CC Energy Development in Oman, compromising vendors to steal sensitive oil and gas documentation. This activity is assessed as pre-positioning for potential disruptive strikes against energy infrastructure.
-
Regional Cyber Conflict Intensifies:
The reports note that the ongoing regional tensions have made cyberspace a primary battlefield, with Gulf states increasingly used as proxies in the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Kuwait accounted for over 15% of regional attack claims in recent weeks, while Oman faces persistent reconnaissance and supply chain attacks.
"The attacks we are witnessing are not random hacktivism-they are calculated, strategic operations designed to degrade national resilience, gather intelligence, and destabilize economic security," said Chris, Director at SHIELDNXT. "Both Kuwait and Oman have demonstrated strong cybersecurity frameworks, but the current threat level demands immediate, coordinated action to protect critical infrastructure and national sovereignty." SHIELDNXT's reports provide sector specific risk assessments for energy, telecommunications, banking, and government sectors, alongside actionable recommendations including zero trust implementation, OT/IT segmentation, enhanced supply chain security, and wiper attack preparedness. The company has made the reports available to the relevant authorities and stands ready to support regional governments with incident response, threat hunting, and strategic security consultations.
